Buttler to miss IPL 2021 remainder, Glenn Philips named replacement

Rajasthan Royals confirmed that England Jos Buttler will miss the IPL 2021 remainder to be there for the birth of his second child

Rajasthan Royals on Saturday confirmed that star batsman Jos Buttler will not be part of Indian Premier League (IPL 2021) remainder, to be present for the birth of his second child.

The England keeper-batsman will be replaced by New Zealand's Glenn Philips, the franchise has confirmed.

Buttler has been Rajasthan's second best batsman in the first phase of the IPL with 254 runs from seven matches which included a blistering 124 against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Rajasthan will also be without England pacer Jofra Archer, who has been ruled out for the rest of the year due to a recurring elbow injury.

"The franchise wishes Jofra Archer good health and a swift recovery," the franchise said in a statement.

Philips, who has been named in New Zealand's T20 World Cup squad last week, has so far played 25 T20Is for the Black Caps and has recently appeared for Welsh Fire in The Hundred.

The second leg of the IPL 2021 is set to played in UAE from September 19 to October 15.
