County cricket is always full of bright moments, especially when local kids come out to the grounds during their summer holidays. One such moment was developed during the County Championship 2025 clash between Yorkshire and Sussex at North Marine Road, Scarborough, on July 30th (Wednesday).
While the match was going at its usual pace, Yorkshire opener Finlay Bean played an aerial flick shot that somehow managed to cross the boundary ropes for a six. The shot was not a very powerful one, rather a gentle flick.
The ball carried to the fence, and a young boy, most probably in his early teens, was sitting in the first row with his Leeds United FC shorts on and near a middle-aged man. The young boy not only caught the ball, but also earned the plaudits of the commentators for a clean catch. Later on, he was seen high-fiving the middle-aged man to his left.
The commentators called it the catch of the day as the boy was quick to release the ball instead of celebrating the moment or trying to keep hold of the ball for a longer moment.
As for the game, Yorkshire led Sussex by 70 runs at the end of Day 2. Sussex were bowled out for 222 thanks to a combined effort from the Yorkshire bowlers. With a century from Adam Lyth, Yorkshire ended the day at 292/4.
