West Indies were unable to bat well at the pace-friendly wicket of the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad during the first Test of the two-match series against India. They lost the game by an innings and 140 runs.
However, India, on the same wicket, did more than well and scored more than 400 runs. Will the West Indies batters be able to present a better account of themselves?
According to the latest reports, the pitch at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi, where the second Test is going to be played, will have a batting-friendly track, giving a good opportunity for the West Indian side to try and put pressure on the opposition.
“The Delhi pitch will have a black-soil base and is likely to favour batters, with spin playing a role as the surface dries up gradually,” ESPNcricinfo wrote in its report.
The last Test played at Delhi was in 2023, where Australia were beaten by India in a Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) match. With a quick outfield, no rain forecast and smaller boundaries, it would only make matters great for batters.
Thus, in the match starting on October 10 (Friday), the visitors have a lot to play for. India lead the series 1-0.
