While the BCCI had already announced that two new teams would be added to the roster for the 2022 season of the Indian Premier League, the process is yet to get underway, with few publications reporting that Juluy is the latest that BCCI is looking for the proposal. However, BCCI Treasurer Arun Dhumal confirmed that it will require an analysis of the market as well as feasibility, thus no timeline can be given so early.
"We are looking to have two franchises in next year's IPL but we will have to see the market and also assess the situation prevailing in the country. We can't guarantee a timeline because there are a lot of things we have to consider," said Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) treasurer Arun Dhumal to IANS on Monday.
It is almost confirmed that Ahmedabad will be hosting one of the teams but a bidding process will get underway before a final decision is taken. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is also planning a mega auction ahead of next year.
