The Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025 edition will begin on August 14 and the tournament will run till September 21, the official website of the tournament informed in a release on January 10 (Friday).
The nitty-gritty of the final schedule and venues will be decided upon later on, but one thing was confirmed that the CPL window will not clash with West Indies’ international cricket duties at all.
Like the last team, the six teams taking part in the 2025 season will be Antigua & Barbuda Falcons, Barbados Royals, Guyana Amazon Warriors, St Kitts & Nevis Patriots, Saint Lucia Kings and Trinbago Knight Riders.
This means that Jamaica Tallawahs, three-time champions of the league, will once again not be part of it for the second season running. A total of 34 matches will be played during the 38-day window.
CPL CEO Pete Russell in a statement said, “We are pleased to have once again worked with Cricket West Indies to find a window that allows the very best players from across the region to take part in the CPL. The 2024 season was our most successful to date and we are looking forward to building on that success in 2025.”
On the other hand, Cricket West Indies (CWI) CEO and COO Lynford Inverary remarked, “CPL remains a key part of our cricketing ecosystem, playing an important role in the development and promotion of the game throughout the Caribbean. Our collaboration with CPL ensures that the best talent will be on display while avoiding any conflicts with international cricket.”
