Fast-bowling all-rounder Deepak Chahar, who is set to miss the entire season of IPL 2022, could now be out for four months and might not feature in the 2022 T20 World Cup later this year in Australia.
According to a report in the Times of India, Chahar will be out of action for at least four months for the back injury that he sustained during his rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore.
Chahar, who has been at the NCA for over a month checked himself in after suffering a quadricep tear during the T20 International (T20I) series against West Indies. CSK spent INR 14 crore on Chahar in the IPL 2022 auction.
He was initially set to miss the majority of the season but the latest report will now serve as a massive setback for not just the franchise but also the Indian team management.
Chahar's absence has clearly been felt by CSK, who have lost four of their five matches this season so far. They managed to break their four-match losing streak on Tuesday, against RCB.
