Chamika Karunaratne handed a suspended one-year ban from all cricket

Following a disciplinary inquiry, Karunaratne has been handed a suspended 1-year ban

Sri Lanka’s star all-rounder Chamika Karunaratne has been handed a one-year ban, which has been suspended for a year. Sri Lanka Cricket took the decision following a “disciplinary enquiry” after the all-rounder had breached multiple clauses set by the three-member panel.

"Considering the seriousness of the violations committed by Mr. Karunaratne, the Inquiry Panel by its report has recommended to the Executive Committee of the SLC to strongly warn the player to refrain from further violations and to impose a punishment that will not have an impact on his cricketing career," SLC stated.

The all-rounder also has pleaded guilty of the charges levelled against him. Karunaratne has been handed a suspended one-year ban from all forms of the game, and also was fined US $5000 for his breaches.

"Subsequent to the said findings and recommendations of the inquiry panel the Executive Committee of SLC has handed a one-year ban from taking part in all forms of Cricket, and the said ban will be suspended for a period of one year."
