Champions Trophy 2025: Here's How Pakistan Can Still Qualify For Knockouts
There’s still a very slight chance Mohammad Rizwan and Co. could still make it through to the knockout stage
With their six-wicket defeat against India in the ICC Champions Trophy on February 23 (Sunday), hosts Pakistan’s chances of qualifying for the semi-finals are all but over.
The Men in Green started their tournament with a 60-run defeat against New Zealand and then allowed India to chase down 242 in 42.3 overs in Dubai.
However, there’s still a very slight chance Mohammad Rizwan and Co. could still make it through to the knockout stage. Here’s how:
Bangladesh will have to beat New Zealand in Rawalpindi by a good margin on February 24. New Zealand defeated Pakistan by 60 runs and have an NRR of +1.200.
AND
Pakistan, who have an NRR of -1.087, will have to absolutely hammer Bangladesh by a massive margin on February 27.
AND
India will have to beat New Zealand by a substantial margin on March 2.
Even if Pakistan get all the aforementioned results in their favour, their NRR has taken a massive hit after two big defeats, which has more or less ended their campaign.
