Chanderpaul named Jamaica Tallawahs head coach

The former West Indies batter will be joined Curtly Ambrose as the bowling coach

West Indies batting great Shivnarine Chanderpaul was on Thursday appointed head coach of Caribbean Premier League (CPL) side Jamaica Tallawahs. He will be joined by Windies pace legend Curtly Ambrose as the bowling coach for CPL 2022.

Chanderpaul will replace Floyd Reifer, who was recently named head coach of West Indies U19 team.

"Shivnarine has had an illustrious playing career and is one of the greats of the game. He has served West Indies cricket with distinction, and I know he will take the Tallawahs to new heights," Tallawahs' owner Krishna Persaud, said.

"Sir Curtley brings in a lot of technical expertise and experience to the Tallawahs and we look forward to having him in the team.

Chanderpaul, 47, played 164 Tests and scored 11,867 runs at an average of 51.37. The southpaw also played 268 ODIs for the Windies and 22 T20Is.

Jamaica Tallawahs are set to begin their CPL 2022 campaign on August 27 against St. Lucia Zouks.
