The entirety of the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) will be hosted in India, with Chennai and Ahmedabad serving as the venues for the playoffs, which is set to begin on May 21 (Tuesday). The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will host the Qualifier 1 (May 21) and the Eliminator (May 22).
Meanwhile, the MA Chidambaram Stadium will host Qualifier 2 and the Final, given that Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are the defending champions, on May 24 and May 26, respectively. As per the new schedule, Ruturaj Gaikwad’s men will take on Kolkata Knight Riders on April 8 at Chepauk, the first fixture of the second half, which will be a night match.
The defending champions, Chennai, will take on Gujarat in Ahmedabad on May 10 before playing their final home game on May 12 against Rajasthan Royals. On May 14, Chennai will take on their arch-rivals, Mumbai, away from home, the only El Clasico this year, unlike the two fixtures from last year. However, their final IPL game of the season on May 18 will be in Bengaluru when they take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Unlike last time around, CSK won't have the luxury of playing their final game at home.
Punjab will play two home games in Dharamshala (May 5 vs CSK and May 9 vs RCB) after their games in Mullanpur. Rajasthan Royals will return to Assam with clashes against Punjab Kings (May 15) and KKR (May 19) to complete their home games.
Mumbai, meanwhile, will take on RCB in their first fixture of the second half at home on April 11, just before the El Clasico. They will close out their season with a home fixture against Lucknow Super Giants on May 17. Meanwhile, Kolkata will play their last home fixture on May 11 against Mumbai Indians, with their final fixture being the last group fixture on May 19, with a day's break before the playoffs.
