Chepauk Super Gillies kick off their campaign with a thumping win

Pradosh Ranjan Paul smashed 88 off 55 deliveries to help the defending champions recorded a 52-run win over Salem Spartans

Chepauk Super Gillies took on Salem Spartans in the second match of Shriram Capital Tamil Nadu Premier League Season 7. The defending champions got off to a great start, with Pradosh Ranjan Paul and Jagadeesan adding 91 runs for the first wicket.

Jagadeesan fell in the 10th over, but Pradosh Ranjan Paul continued his dominance alongside Baba Aparajith. The duo added 73 runs for the second wicket. Pradosh Ranjan Paul smashed 12 fours and a six for his 55-ball 88. Aparajith, on the other hand, made 29 out of 19.

After the duo got out, Sanjay Yadav played an aggressive cameo of 12-ball 31*, helping Chepauk Super Gillies reach 217/5 in their 20 overs.

Salem Spartans bowlers had a forgettable day, with everyone going for more than eight runs per over. Sunny Sandhu was the pick of the bowlers for the Salem Spartans with 2/32.

Abhishek Tanwar's clumsy final over made it worse for the Spartans. He gave away 26 runs and bowled four close no-balls.

Chasing a massive total of 218 runs, the Spartans crumbled under pressure as nobody in the top order managed to cross even 25 runs.

The highest scorer in the top order for the Salem Spartans was Akash Sumra. The opener made 24 (27) before getting out to Baba Aparajith. Aravind S, the Impact Player, smashed a six and a four at the start but couldn't continue the momentum as he fell to Aparajith for a 14-ball 17.

Kaushik Gandhi was another player who had the start but couldn't convert it into a big score. The middle-order batter notched up 23 (20).

In the end, Sunny Sandhu and Muhammed Adnan Khan added the team's highest partnership of 49 (18), but the match was over even before this partnership began.

Muhammad Adnan Khan went on to entertain the crowd. He mustered six sixes and a four, including four sixes off Rohit R in the 19th over. He remained unbeaten on 47 (15).

The Chepauk Super Gillies' impact players for the day—Rocky, experienced Aparajith, and Viju Arul—grabbed two wickets each. Harish Kumar, Rahil S. Shah, and Silambarasan picked up one apiece as the defending champions rattled the Salem Spartans to win by 52 runs.
