Confirmed: WPL 2026 To Begin On Jan 9, Final On Feb 5 In Vadodara

Prior to the 2025 edition, the tournament was held in two cities for the first two editions of the league as well

The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 will begin on January 9 and the finale will be held on February 8 in Vadodara, the league confirmed at the start of the auction for the same season.

The tournament will be played in only two cities i.e. Mumbai and Vadodara and will not be held in home and away venue formats, which was tried last season, where matches in the five-team tournament were held across four venues with Delhi Capitals being the only team that did not play at their home ground.

Prior to the 2025 edition, the tournament was held in two cities across the 2023 and 2024 editions and the 2026 edition is a continuation of the same.

Mumbai Indians are the defending champions, and they have won two out of the three finals of the tournament. Delhi, though, are the most consistent side, with them having reached the final of all the three editions, only to end up being the runners-up thrice.

The tournament will feature five teams, which would include teams from both Mumbai and Vadodara. While the Mumbai Indians represent Mumbai, the Gujarat Giants are representatives of Vadodara.

Other than them, Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and UP Warriorz are the remaining three teams representing the cities of Delhi, Bengaluru and Lucknow respectively.
