CPL 2021: St. Lucia Zouks retains Fletcher, Cornwall; Sammy appointed T20 consultant

West Indies all-rounder Darren Sammy took up the role of cricket consultant and brand ambassador at CPL franchise St. Lucia Zouks

Carribean Premier League (CPL) side St. Lucia Zouks retained the seven players for the 2021 season which included West Indies internationals Andre Fletcher, Kesrick Williams, Rahkeem Cornwall and Roston Chase. Zouks also announced that their former skipper Darren Sammy will take up role of cricket consultant and brand ambassador.

Obed McCoy, Mark Deyal and Javelle Glen were the other retentions for the upcoming season which is scheduled to start from August 28.

Sammy, who led the Zouks to the final of the CPL last year, said he was happy to contribute in his new role.

"It’s been an absolute pleasure to have led and been a part of the St Lucia Zouks from its inception. Even though some may say good things must come to an end it will not be in this instance. St Lucia Zouks and I will always be a team. But since venturing into coaching, I realise I have a new passion that can allow me to still contribute and play a part in taking the franchise forward on its quest to winning a CPL title and developing future stars!"

Zouks' head coach Andy Flower said that the franchise is looking for new players to fill in the remaining 10 places for the new season.

"Preparations are ongoing as the franchise works aggressively on identifying exceptional players to bring to the team to victory," he said.
