If anyone wants to see the extent of the craze for the Indian men’s cricket team, they should look no further beyond Australia. A team that regularly dominated the Men in Blue in the 2000s had stadiums full to the brim for Tests and ODIs between the two teams.
However, even as India’s dominance against the Kangaroos started in the 2010s, the stadiums still remained full. But as the rivalry gets settled in the 2020s, with both teams looking equally strong, the craze for the Indian team in Australia has peaked to another level.
For a white ball game at the end of October 2025, which is still four months away, tickets in Canberra were sold out in June, as they were offered to the public.
“Exhausting our public ticket allocation for the SCG ODI and Manuka Oval T20I four months prior to the series is a testament to the tremendous interest in the upcoming season amongst cricket fans,” Joel Morrison, Executive General Manager of Events & Operations at Cricket Australia, was quoted as saying in an official statement on June 26.
“We are thrilled to see continued strong engagement among the Indian diaspora following a record-breaking Border-Gavaskar series last summer. The forecast strong turnout of both Australian and Indian fans means we’ll again enjoy a fantastic atmosphere at each match,” he added.
India will tour Australia for a three-match ODI and five-match T20I series, starting with the first ODI at the Optus Stadium in Perth on October 19.
