Cricket South Africa on Thursday announced the appointment Enoch Nkwe as the new Director of Cricket. The former South Africa assistant coach will replace Graeme Smith, whose three-year tenure prematurely in March following racism allegations.
Nkwe played domestic cricket for Lions and Gauteng from 2002-09 and featured in 42 FC matches and 38 List A matches. After a hand injury cut short his playing career, Nkwe had much success as a coach, leading Highveld Lions to the CSA T20 Challenge and first-class competition titles in 2018. In the same year, he coached Jozi Stars to the inaugural Mzansi Super League title.
In 2019, he was demoted to South Africa's assistant head coach after serving as the team's interim director.
CSA also announced three other appointments on Friday - Mtunzi Jonas as the Chief Commercial Officer, Tjaart van der Walt as the Chief Financial Officer and Wanele Mngomezulu as the Chief Marketing Officer.
