Mumbai cricket team were dealt a heavy blow ahead of their season opener in the Ranji Trophy 2025-26 after Shivam Dube, their ace all-rounder, was advised to rest and had to return to Mumbai from Srinagar.
Mumbai’s first match of the season, scheduled against Jammu and Kashmir, will be played at the Sher-E-Kashmir Stadium in Srinagar. Dube, a Chennai Super Kings (CSK) superstar, who played a vital role in India lifting the Asia Cup 2025 with his brilliant six-hitting abilities, had flown with the team to Srinagar.
However, the cold weather in Srinagar meant that he developed a stiff back and was therefore advised to take a rest, as he had to later fly to Australia with the national team for a five-match T20I series.
“He flew with the team but due to cold weather he suffered back stiffness. The medical team advised him to rest, so he flew back to Mumbai on Tuesday,” Indian Express quoted a source in the Mumbai Cricket Association as saying.
Punjab Kings all-rounder, Musheer Khan, has been named as Dube’s replacement in the side for the match that will begin on October 15 (Wednesday).
Mumbai are placed in Elite Group D with Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Puducherry, Hyderabad and Rajasthan, apart from Jammu and Kashmir.
