Defending champions Chennai Super Kings and last year's finalists Kolkata Knight Riders will kick off the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 on March 26 at the Wankhede Stadium.
The tournament which is set to be played across three venues in Mumbai and one stadium in Pune, will see its first double header on March 27 when Royal Challengers Bangalore take on Punjab Kings at the DY Patil Stadium and five-time champions Mumbai Indians take on Delhi Capitals at the Brabourne Stadium in the first match.
The MCA Stadium in Pune will host its first game on March 29 when Sunrisers Hyderabad take on Rajasthan Royals.
The two new teams - Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Supergiants - will begin their campaigns by facing off each other on March 28 at the Wankhede Stadium.
There will be 12 double headers in total with the first match starting at 3:30 pm IST. All evening matches will start at 7:30 pm IST. In all, 20 matches each will be held at Wankhede Stadium & DY Patil Stadium, 15 matches each at Brabourne and MCA International stadium, Pune.
The Wankhede Stadium is also set to host the final league game between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Punjab Kings on May 22.
The schedule for playoffs is yet to be released by the BCCI. According to Cricbuzz, the final phase of the competition will be held at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad
