Two of the most successful teams in Indian Premier League (IPL) history – Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are all set to clash in the season opener on Saturday (September 19) at Abu Dhabi. Ahead of the clash MI skipper has said that while he enjoys the challenge, CSK will just another opponent for his team.
Talking about the El Classico of the IPL, in a video posted by Mumbai Indians’ Twitter handle, Rohit said, "Playing against CSK is always fun, we enjoy that battle. But when we play the game it is just another opposition for us and that is how we want to move forward.”
All-rounder Hardik Pandya, who is set to return to competitive cricket for the first time since his back surgery believes that the clash between the two sides has always been special. ."It has become a game which people look forward to. It is one of the two franchises that are most loved by the fans and that is how it becomes special. I do not know when we all will get our A-game out when we are playing against CSK and I wish we always do that," Pandya said.
MI hold a superior record over CSK, having won 17 and lost 11. However, since 2015, MI have won eight, while the Men in Yellow have managed to win just twice. The two teams last clashed in the IPL 2019 final in Hyderabad - a game that saw MI win by one run and register their fourth IPL title.
