NEWSChennai Super Kings have signed Jason Behrendorff as a replacement for Josh Hazlewood for the Indian Premier League 2021, the organisers announced on Friday (April 9).
The left-arm quick from Australia has featured in 11 ODIs and seven T20Is so far. This is Behrendorff’s second IPL team, having represented Mumbai Indians in 2019 where he played five encounters and picked as many wickets.
In the Big Bash League earlier this year, Behrendorff took 16 wickets in as many matches for Perth Scorchers, at an average of 23.31 and an economy rate of 7.03.
Hazlewood pulled himself out of the forthcoming edition to take a small break from cricket and keep himself fresh for the Ashes and the T20 World Cup later this year.
The MS Dhoni-led side will commence their IPL 2021 campaign against Delhi Capitals on Saturday (April 10) at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.
