CSK Star All-Rounder Sam Curran Makes Sudden Return to England's T20I Squad

Sam Curran has made a return to England’s setup after a long hiatus

Almost a year after his last appearance, Sam Curran finally earns himself a spot in England’s T20I setup, as announced on September 5 (Friday). The all-rounder returns to the T20I setup for the upcoming six clashes against South Africa and Ireland.

Despite not having the best of IPLs, Curran has been the player to watch out for in England’s various T20 competitions, smashing 603 runs at a strike rate of 154.21 with 33 wickets. The all-rounder has developed a unique slower ball – moon ball – which has become an effective change-up weapon.

On the other hand, England’s all-format opener Ben Duckett has been rested for the third ODI with an additional break for the opener ahead of the important Ashes Down Under later this year. Will Jacks will be promoted to the top of the order alongside Jamie Smith for the last ODI against South Africa.

Jordan Cox, too, earned himself a call-up to England’s T20I side and stands a chance to make his presence felt in the upcoming three-match series against Ireland.

Updated England T20I squads:

vs South Africa: Harry Brook (capt), Rehan Ahmed, Jofra Archer, Tom Banton, Jacob Bethell, Jos Buttler, Brydon Carse, Sam Curran, Liam Dawson, Will Jacks, Saqib Mahmood, Jamie Overton, Adil Rashid, Phil Salt, Jamie Smith, Luke Wood.

vs Ireland: Jordan Cox, Sonny Baker and Tom Hartley replace Harry Brook, Jofra Archer, Brydon Carse and Jamie Smith; Bethell replaces Brook as captain.
