Chennai Super Kings (CSK) young star Matheesha Pathirana, an important part of the Sri Lankan bowling lineup, has been ruled out of the team’s tour of Pakistan.
Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), while announcing the squad for the tour, which will see the islanders play in a three-match ODI series against the hosts and in a T20I series, which will have Zimbabwe as the third side, disclosed the reason behind Pathirana’s non-selection.
The 23-year-old is suffering from a respiratory tract infection, which has kept him out of action, as per SLC.
Apart from Pathirana’s absence, the team would see several changes as they bowed out of the Super Four stage of the Asia Cup 2025 without a single win.
Eshan Malinga, Lahiru Udara, Kamil Mishara, Wanindu Hasaranga and Pramod Madushan have been added to the ODI squad in place of Dilshan Madushanka, Nuwanidu Fernando, Milan Rathnayake, Nishan Madushka and Dunith Wellalage, respectively.
The T20I side, too, has a lot of changes as Nuwanidu Fernando, Dunith Wellalage, Chamika Karunaratne and Binura Fernando made way for Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Janith Liyanage, Dushan Hemantha and Eshan Malinga.
The ODI series will begin on November 11, while the T20I tri-series will kick off from November 17.
