CSK Youngster’s HORROR U19 Tour Continues As He’s Dismissed Cheaply AGAIN

He has has now registered scores of 1, 5, 0 & 21 in the five-match Youth ODI series, averaging 6.75 while striking at 50.94

With 240 runs at a strike rate of 189.00, Chennai Super Kings’ Ayush Mhatre was one of the finds of the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL). However, less than two months after scaling new heights, the 17-year-old is enduring a really tough patch in the ongoing U19 series against England.

Captain of India U19, Mhatre has now registered scores of 1, 5, 0 & 21 in the five-match Youth ODI series, averaging 6.75 while striking at 50.94. He was dismissed for 1 in the fourth Youth ODI today, caught at mid-on off a leg-stump half-volley that he tried to flick over the in-field in Suryakumar Yadav’esque fashion.

Mhatre’s form will be a cause for concern for CSK, who are relying on the youngster to carry them forward for the remainder of the ongoing cycle at the top of the order. He was a silver lining for the Super Kings in IPL 2025, but rival franchises will be keeping a close eye on his mode of dismissals in the England U19 tour, where he’s been seriously troubled by the incoming deliveries.

Meanwhile, his opening partner Vaibhav Suryavanshi endured a rare failure, departing for 33 off 42 balls. Ahead of the game, Suryavanshi, who hit a record-breaking hundred in the previous game, had promised that he would aim to hit a double century.
