17-year-old Ayush Mhatre, who was signed by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) as a replacement for the injured Ruturaj Gaikwad, scripted history in the clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), becoming the third-youngest half-centurion in IPL history and the youngest half-centurion for CSK ever.
Mhatre debuted last week in the clash against the Mumbai Indians (MI) and impressed everyone, smashing 32 off 15 balls. He then followed it up with yet another impressive 30 off 19 balls against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
After a failure against Punjab Kings in Chennai, the youngster bounced back against RCB today, becoming only the third batter in the tournament’s history to cross 50 before turning 18.

Mhatre got to his 50 off just 25 balls, and the highlight of his night was unquestionably his onslaught against Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the powerplay.
In an extraordinary sequence in the fourth of the chase, Mhatre went 4 4 4 6 4 4 against the veteran to collect 26 runs off the over. It was Bhuvneshwar’s second-most expensive over in T20s ever.
He brought up his fifty in the ninth over to become CSK’s youngest ever half-centurion.
