Andhra Premier League is proving to be a great platform for the young talent in the huge state of Andhra Pradesh to come ahead and show what they are capable of. 21-year-old batter Shaik Rasheed, who hails from Guntur, did just that by smashing a quick-fire half-century in his second game of the league.
Rasheed has already played five games as a top-order batter for Chennai Super Kings and scored 71 runs in five games at an average of 14.2 and a strike rate of 112.69. Here, he was opening the batting for the Royals of Rayalaseema, and as it turned out, he was the only batter who could stay on the crease and score some runs for his team. Not only that, he smashed nine scintillating boundaries in his innings.
The Royals got all-out for just 139, and the runs scored by the 21-year-old at the top turned out to be gold dust, as if not for his innings, the team would have struggled to cross even 100. Satyanaryana Raju was splendid with the ball for Bhimavaram Bulls, and he picked three wickets with his right-arm pace.
The Royals have already lost their first game, and it seems like they are on their way to losing the second as well, despite the hearty innings from the young talent. At the time of writing this report, the Bulls are batting at 112/3 in the fourteenth over with just 28 more runs needed for the win.
