Pat Cummins (5-56) and Mitchell Starc (4-33) produced a sublime spells of seam bowling as Australia took control of the series deciding third Test against Pakistan on Wednesday.
After breaking the 150-run stand between Azhar Ali (78) and Abdullah Shafique, the pacer duo took advantage of the dusty Lahore pitch to trigger a dramatic collapse to earn a substantial lead for the visitors.
Australia's lead stands at 134 runs after openers David Warner and Usman Khawaja finished day three at 11/0.
Pakistan started the day at 90/1 as Shafique and Azhar brought up their fifties as they brought up the hundred-run partnership. Nathan Lyon broke the partnership when he got a caught behind decision reversed to send back Shafique before the drinks break.
Cummins' decision to take the new ball worked in Australia's favour as he dismissed Azhar with a sensational return catch just before tea. Azam soon reached his fifty 91 balls when Starc and Cummins combined to strike down Pakistan. Starc broke through Fawad Alam's gate with an angled delivery and then got the better of Mohammad Rizwan soon after to leave Pakistan reeling at 256/5.
Cummins piled on the pressure as he castled Sajid Khan (6) with a delivery that jagged into the right hander from the sixth stump line. The Australian skipper trapped Nauman Ali and got Hasan Ali caught in the slips for ducks to complete his fifer.
Skipper Azam (67) was the ninth wicket as Starc trapped him plumb with another seaming delivery. The left-arm pacer soon removed Naseem Shah for a duck to wrap up Pakistan's first innings for 268.
