Delhi Capitals’ pacer Mukesh Kumar was handed a 10 percent match-fee fine by the match referees for breaching the Indian Premier League (IPL) code of conduct during his team’s clash against Mumbai Indians (MI) on May 21 (Wednesday).
Along with the deduction in match fees, Mukesh accumulated one demerit point for his actions, which amounted to a Level 1 offence under Article 2.2 (Abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during a match).
“Mukesh Kumar admitted to the Level 1 offence and accepted the Match Referee’s sanction,” a statement published by the league on its website read.
Mukesh conceded 27 runs in the 19th over of the Mumbai innings, when Naman Dhir and Suryakumar Yadav hit him for three sixes and two fours.
It was the over that shifted the momentum towards MI as they ended up at 180 from their 20 overs after being 132/5 at the end of 18 overs.
For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding.
