Chennai Super Kings (CSK) pacer Deepak Chahar is likely to recover by mid-April and feature in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, according to a report by Times of India.
Chahar, who suffered a quadricep tear during the third T20I against West Indies last month, was ruled out of the Sri Lanka series. Initial scans suggested that he would have to undergo a surgery, which could've ruled out him out for a substantial period of time.
He is undergoing an eight-week rehabilitation period at National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru and could be ready to join CSK's preparation camp in Surat in a couple of weeks.
The defending champions had shelled out Rs 14 crore for the Indian pacer in the mega-auction last month. The franchise had on Tuesday added Ireland pacer Josh Little as a net bowler ahead of the season.
They will begin their IPL 2022 campaign on March 26 against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
