Deepti Sharma's heroics lift London Spirit to win over Manchester Originals

Indian all-rounder Deepti Sharma claimed two wickets scored a crucial 34 to help London Spirit beat Manchester Originals

Indian all-rounder Deepti Sharma starred with bat and ball as London Spirit beat Manchester Originals by five wickets on Tuesday to keep their top-three hopes alive in The Hundred.

Batting first, Originals opener Emma Lamb scored 30 runs in 17 balls before Sharma dismissed her opening partner Lizelle Lee for a duck. Mignon du Preez (31 off 27 balls) added 39 runs with Lamb who was run out by Tammy Beaumont off the 51st ball. Heather Knight then dismissed Cordelia Griffith for a golden duck while Sharma got the wicket of Du Preez off the 75th ball.

Sophie Ecclestone's scored 32 off 26 balls as the Originals finished 127/5 in 100 balls.

In the chase, Spirit lost opener Tammy Beaumont for a duck off the 2nd ball while Naomi Dattani, Deandra Dottin (28 off 23 balls), Danielle Gibson and captain Knight (35 off 26 balls)were also dismissed in quick intervals. With 41 needed to win from 30 balls, Sharma (34 not out off 23) smashed three boundaries while Charlotte Dean added two more as Spirit reached the target with two balls to spare.

The win took Spirit to sixth in the table with six points from as many games, while Originals remained at the bottom with three points.
