Delhi cricket team made its way to the history books on November 29 (Friday) by becoming the first side in its T20 history to use 11 bowlers in an innings.
Playing against Manipur in a group C match in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2024-25, the Ayush Badoni-led side gave at least an over to all the 11 players including Badoni himself, the designated wicketkeeper of the team.
In fact, Badoni bowled two overs and took a wicket as well. While Badoni bowled, Anuj Rawat, another wicketkeeper-batter in the side, kept wickets. The match at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai saw Delhi win by only six wickets, even as they restricted Manipur to 20/8. Yash Dhull top-scored for Delhi with 59 off 51 balls.
A breakup of how many overs each Delhi bowler bowled during this historic feat.
Overs bowled by Delhi bowlers against Manipur
3 overs - Harsh Tyagi, Digvesh Singh, Mayank Rawat
2 overs - Aaysh Singh, Akhil Chaudhary, Ayush Badoni
1 over - Priyansh Arya, Aryan Rana, Himmat Singh, Yash Dhull, Anuj Rawat
Before this, many teams including Deccan Chargers and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) used nine bowlers in a T20 game, but this was the first instance of a team using all players as bowlers.
Delhi, after winning all four encounters in the SMAT so far, are at the top of the group C points table.
