Delhi Capitals (DC) defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 25 runs in Match 17 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 and registered their first win at Chepauk after 5468 days (14 years, 11 months and 20 days). The last time DC beat CSK in Chennai was in 2010.
Opting to bat, KL Rahul opened the innings for DC in the absence of Faf du Plessis and scored 77 off 51 deliveries. Abishek Porel (33), Axar Patel (21), Sameer Rizvi (20) and Tristan Stubbs (24*) chipped in with handy cameos to take DC to 183/6.
In the second innings, DC never allowed CSK to get going. The Men in Yellow lost five wickets with just 74 runs on the board, and that’s when Vijay Shankar and MS Dhoni joined hands and put on a painful 84-run stand for the sixth wicket. Vijay scored 69* off 54 balls, while MSD could only manage 30* off 26 deliveries.
The Capitals have now won all their three games in the IPL 2025 and are sitting at the top of the points table. Meanwhile, CSK have lost their last three fixtures after starting the season with a win against Mumbai Indians (MI).
