Sri Lanka’s tearaway quick Dushmantha Chameera is making his debut for Delhi Capitals (DC) in Match 40 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on April 22 (Tuesday).
The 33-year-old right-arm pacer becomes the sixth Sri Lankan to play for DC in the IPL.
Chameera has been brought in as a replacement for out-of-form Mohit Sharma. This season, the Indian seamer has picked up only two wickets in seven games at an average of 105 and an economy of 10.
Previously, Chameera has played 13 games in the IPL - 12 for LSG and one for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). In 13 IPL games, he has nine wickets at an average of 48 and an economy rate of 9.19.
Chameera played one game for KKR last season and conceded 48 runs in three overs. Overall, the Sri Lankan has played 137 T20s, picking up 141 wickets at an economy of 8.15.
It was DC who won the toss and decided to bowl first against LSG at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.
