KL Rahul shared an update on social media, saying he has undergone a successful surgery on his thigh and is “determined to get back to my best and get back on the field.”
The 31-year-old hasn’t just been ruled out of the ongoing Indian Premier League 2023 but will also miss the World Test Championship final against Australia in June.

"Hi everyone, I just got done with my surgery - it was successful. A big thank you to the doctors and medical staff for making sure I was comfortable and everything went smoothly,” posted Rahul.
“I'm officially on the road to recovery now. I'm determined to get back to my best and get back on the field. Onwards and upwards!"
The wicketkeeper-batter suffered the injury during the Lucknow Super Giants' (LSG) game against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on May 1.
He did come out to bat at No. 11 but faced only three deliveries and looked very uncomfortable. In his absence, Krunal Pandya has been leading Lucknow.
Rahul was dropped from the Test side during the Australia series at home after a string of low scores. However, while his inclusion in the WTC final raised many eyebrows, one thought he could keep wickets and slot into the middle-order.
This blow confirms that KS Bharat will continue to don the gloves, as he did in the series against Australia. Ishan Kishan has also been added to the squad as a cover for Bharat.
