Devdutt Padikkal’s List A career only seems to be on the rise, with the southpaw becoming the fastest-ever batter in the history of List A cricket to put up 2000 runs. The left-hander achieved that feat during his 86 against Haryana in the first semi-final of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024/25.
Padikkal got to the landmark in just 31 innings, beating both Sam Hain (England) and Daniel Hughes (Australia)’s record of getting to 2000 List A runs in 37 innings. Astonishingly, he got to 2000 runs in the Vijay Hazare Trophy in just 27 appearances, 11 clear of Ruturaj Gaikwad’s record.
The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) man has been on song this year, scoring 86 and 102, carrying on his form from his last appearance in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. It is a remarkable patch of form that the left-hander is going through, with scores of 86, 102, 114, 93*, 70 and 117 in his last six innings.
