BCCI has announced a 20-man squad for the ODI and T20I series against Sri Lanka scheduled in July. Shikhar Dhawan has been given the responsibility to lead the side while Bhuvneshwar Kumar will be his deputy. Out with a shoulder injury since March, Shreyas Iyer will continue to be preserved for the looming assignments later in the year, including the World T20. Recovering after a knee surgery, T Natarajan is not included in the squad as well.
After an impressive IPL, Chetan Sakariya has earned a maiden call-up into the Indian side. Missing out on an international debut twice due to fitness issues in the series against Australia and England, Varun Chakravarthy has a reason to be hopeful again. Rahul Tewatia was a part of the squad in the home T20I series against England, but after a sedate IPL has made way for K Gowtham for the all-rounder spot along with the Pandya brothers. In line with the norm in recent times, BCCI has also selected net bowlers to travel with the team to Sri Lanka.
India’s squad: Shikhar Dhawan (Captain), Bhuvneshwar Kumar (Vice-captain), Prithvi Shaw, Devdutt Padikkal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Suryakumar Yadav, Manish Pandey, Hardik Pandya, Nitish Rana, Ishan Kishan (Wicket-keeper), Sanju Samson (Wicket-keeper), Yuzvendra Chahal, Rahul Chahar, K Gowtham, Krunal Pandya, Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakravarthy, Deepak Chahar, Navdeep Saini, Chetan Sakariya
Net Bowlers: Ishan Porel, Sandeep Warrier, Arshdeep Singh, Sai Kishore, Simarjeet Singh
