Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by one run in their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 clash at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday. RCB clinched a thrilling one-run win over CSK in the nail biting game. While addressing a post match press conference, CSK Head Coach Stephen Fleming said, “The way Mahendra Singh Dhoni calculated last few overs based on his power he would have looked only for four-five sixes in the game. He is so calculated and balanced that I will never question him. He got so close to the game.”
Chasing 162 for a win, CSK needed 26 off the final over from Umesh Yadav. Dhoni, who was the only man standing between RCB and victory, belted Umesh for 4, 6, 6, 2, 6 off the first 5 deliveries of the over. Needing 2 off the final delivery, Dhoni failed to connect the ball and a direct throw from behind the wickets from Parthiv Patel saw the non-striker Shadrul Thakur run-out without facing a single ball.
Despite this win, RCB remain rooted to the bottom of the table and CSK remain top.
