Follow UsDigvesh Rathi picked up the wicket of Shreyas Iyer during Punjab Kings (PBKS)’ match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on May 4 (Sunday) at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium in Dharamsala.
After having hit a six on the previous ball of the mystery spinner Rathi, Iyer wanted to hit an inside-out shot against the bowler, but got an inside edge to the backward point, where Mayank Yadav took the catch.
This was the first instance of a spinner getting the wicket of Iyer. Before the game against LSG, Iyer got out to pacers- Matheesha Pathirana, Harshal Patel, Jofra Archer, Khaleel Ahmed, Josh Hazlewood, Harshit Rana, Riomario Shepherd.
Even before the IPL 2025, Iyer had not been out to spinners. Thus, it was the first occasion in 2025 that the PBKS skipper got out to a tweaker.
