Srikar Bharat has been one of those wicketkeeper-batters who is no longer under consideration by the Indian senior men’s selectors. However, he made sure that if not the Indian selectors, at least the Indian Premier League scouts had a look at him.
The 31-year-old smashed 93 off just 46 balls, playing for the Kakinada Kings against the Amravati Royals at the ACA-VDCA Stadium in Visakhapatnam on August 8 (Friday).
Bharat hit six fours and seven sixes and struck in excess of 200. He led from the front as captain, and his team managed to post 229/5 in their 20 overs. Along with Bharat, Sai Rahul also smashed 96 off 46 balls, hitting five fours and nine sixes.
It was the first match of the 2025 season of the Andhra Premier League, and Bharat made sure that the league got its deserved promotion. The Andhra batter, who has played seven Tests for the country, last played in the IPL in the 2022 season for the Delhi Capitals.
