Varun Chakravarthy is going through a purple patch right now, and proved it once again by bowling a spell of 5/24 in his four overs in the third T20I against England on January 28 (Tuesday). However, it wasn’t enough as India were defeated by England by 26 runs after the batting order failed to rise to the occasion and chase down 172.
Chakravarthy operated in one-over spells in this game; however, every over was full of action, and he ended up with his second fifer in the last few months.
“Sad that we didn't make it in this match but that's the nature of the game, got to move on,” Chakravarthy said.
“Of course when you're playing for the country, got to take up some accountability, able to do it to a certain extent. Hope to do it well.
“I don't complain [on one-over spells] - there have been times when Surya bowls me four on the trot, mentally ready for what he throws at me.”
Chakravarthy, who’s new avatar has proved to be much more lethal with added overspin on his deliveries, also said that he’s developing a flipper as well.
“Been working on a flipper, coming out well. Maybe on this stage, this is the best [overall spell] I've bowled, but I can definitely get better,” Chakravarthy said.
Skipper Suryakumar Yadav also praised the mystery spinners discipline and the world he has put behind the scenes to get these results.
“He [Chakravarthy] has been working really hard during practice sessions. He is disciplined and he's getting those results on the field as a result of that hard work,” Surya said.
The fourth T20I will be played in Pune on January 31 from 7 PM.
