Rajasthan Royals were nowhere close to their best against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on April 13 (Sunday), losing the home game by nine wickets. The batters failed to execute the plans on a sluggish wicket, and later, RCB batters, led by Phil Salt and Virat Kohli, completed a near-perfect run-chase.
This was Rajasthan Royals’ fourth loss in six games of the IPL 2025, which fundamentally put them in an awkward situation regarding qualification for the next stage. But with more than half of the tournament set to take place, coach Vikram Rahour stated that they can stage a turnaround under Sanju Samson’s captaincy.
“We are playing well and preparing well,” Rathour said. “This is such a tournament, which we have also seen in the past, where you can win four-five games in a row, and Rajasthan Royals have done it before.”
“You can also lose successive games but don’t put winning games in a row beyond us because we are a team that are capable of winning the remaining matches and are doing well. So, we will continue to back ourselves and we will try to win the rest of our games (this season),” he said.
“We are not lacking in any department; we are trying very hard and putting in all the effort, but cricket is such a game that if a team plays better than you in this tournament on a certain date, then any team can defeat the other.”
Rathour argued that the 2008 IPL Champions failed to execute their plans properly on the day and that the margin of difference could come in at any time.
“It is not like any one team is playing way better than the other, so on a certain day, you can lose to any team. As I mentioned earlier, the team is good and if we can execute well then we can do well for sure,” he said.
