Madhya Pradesh captain Rajat Patidar continues to churn out runs in first-class cricket as he's slammed yet another century in the Ranji Trophy. He remained unbeaten on 107 at the end of Day 2 against Punjab in Indore to help his side to a 73-run lead after bowling the opposition for just 232.
Patidar, who has slammed over 5,000 runs in first-class cricket, brought up his 16th century in the format on October 16 (Thursday). He put on 147 for the fifth wicket with Venkatesh Iyer, who was dismissed for a well-compiled 73 off 114 deliveries.
This century continues a fine run of form for Patidar, who has scored three centuries and as many fifties in his previous eight first-class innings. Before this knock, his scores read: 66, 10, 101, 13, 77, 125 and 66, stretching back to August.
Patidar, who led Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) to their maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) title earlier this year, was not given a long rope in Tests, playing just three games last year. He managed just 62 runs across six innings, which saw his ouster from the team.
However, given his impressive show in first-class cricket, the Indian selectors might keep a close eye on the 31-year-old, ahead of the South Africa Tests, starting next month.
