Dubai Capitals have announced their 14 overseas players with Rovman Powell, Sikandar Raza and Mujeeb Ur Rahman as part of the set-up. Powell is the only player who is also part of Delhi Capitals (DC) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) owned by the GMR Group
Sri Lankan trio of Dushmantha Chameera, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Niroshan Dickwella too make the list along with Afghanistan's Hazratullah Zazai. Among the associate nations, Netherlands' Fred Klaassen and Scotland's George Munsey are the other big names in the squad.
"Being a part of T20 cricket's most extravagant set-up, the Indian Premier League, for 15 years now - we felt that it was the right time to expand our wings on to the global popularity charts of this format of the sport," Kiran Kumar Grandhi, the managing director of the GMR group and chairman of Dubai Capitals said.
"The International League T20, which is scheduled to be launched in the United Arab Emirates in January 2023, is a perfect stepping-stone for GMR Sports towards building the Capitals universe comprising of a galaxy of cricketing stars from all corners of the world. We are looking forward to making a world-class city like Dubai, our home as Dubai Capitals."
Other prominent names like Isuru Udana, Blessing Muzarabani and England's Dan Lawrence too have been called up.
Gulf Giants owned by the Adani Group and the Kolkata Kight Rider (KKR) owned Abu Dhabi Knight Riders have also announced their overseas players with a few more to be added in the near future.
