Duleep Trophy 2025: BCCI Gives In To Fans' Demand For Live Telecast

After no streaming of the quarterfinals, the semi-finals will also not be available for streaming on any platform

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said that they are going to do a live telecast of the Duleep Trophy 2025's final. This statement came after fans shamed the richest cricket board in the world for not providing live-streaming of one of its biggest domestic tournaments in an era where state leagues and even district tournaments are being streamed live.

"There will be a live telecast of the final of the Duleep Trophy. We have an agreement with our broadcaster to ensure live telecast of 100 days of domestic cricket, which means that all our domestic tournaments are covered live,” The Times of India quoted BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia as saying.

“The BCCI gives the utmost importance to domestic cricket, which is why you will see that almost all the Indian players are in action in these matches," Saikia added.

The tournament began with two quarterfinals, the first being between North Zone and East Zone and the other between Central Zone and North East Zone. The winners of the first quarter-final will play South Zone in the second semi-final, while the winners of the second quarterfinal will face East Zone in the first semi-final.

Though the quarterfinals were not broadcast, BCCI couldn’t even secure the broadcast or live-streaming facility for at least one of the semi-finals.

By depriving the fans of moments such as Aquin Nabi’s hat-trick and Danish Malewar’s double century along with runs from famous players such as Rajat Patidar and Yash Dhull, BCCI have only earned criticism.

The fans will again miss out on watching the likes of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shreyas Iyer and Sarfaraz Khan in action during the semi-finals.

The final will begin on September 11 at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence Ground-1.
