Going into the Test series against India, Chris Woakes was tipped to lead the pack as he was the most experienced pacer at England's disposal. He has played 57 Tests before this game against India, and has 181 wickets at 28.24, which are pretty good numbers.
However, in the first Test at Headingley, the 36-year-old has delivered his worst spell at home. Never previously had he conceded more than 103 runs in an innings in England.
0/103* vs IND, Leeds, 2025
2/103 vs SL, Chester-le-Street, 2016
1/96 vs AUS, The Oval, 2013
4/84 vs WI, Nottingham, 2024
Only 19% of Woakes' deliveries would have gone on to hit the stumps, which is not ideal. Moreover, he has bowled a huge percentage of deliveries on full or at half-volley lengths, which the batters have managed to negotiate well.
With barely any movement, Woakes' lengths have been far from ideal in this Test.
India are in a commanding position at the moment, with Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill taking them past 400 within the first hour on Day 2.
