Jasprit Bumrah was going to be a key bowler for India coming into the Test series against England. He justified that as he picked up the first two wickets of the England innings in the first Test at Headingley. He got Zak Crawley in the first over and then returned in his second spell to clean up Ben Duckett.
With the wicket of Duckett, Bumrah now has 147 wickets in SENA countries (South Africa, England, New Zealand & Australia), which is the most for an Asian bowler. He surpassed Pakistan great Wasim Akram to the record.
147 - Jasprit Bumrah
146 - Wasim Akram
141 - Anil Kumble
130 - Ishant Sharma
123 - Mohammed Shami
The pacer has 38 scalps in South Africa, 39 in England, six in New Zealand and 64 in Australia. Bumrah could have had more in this innings, but there were as many as three catches spilled off his bowling.
Earlier on Day 2, India were bowled out for 471, losing their last seven wickets for just 41 runs. England have managed to steady their innings after losing Crawley early, but with Joe Root and a well-set Ollie Pope at the crease, they will hope to bat out the rest of the day with no further damage.
