England Captain Takes Over New Zealand Legend For Unique World Cup Centuries Record

With her run-a-ball 117, Sciver-Brunt notched up her fifth century in the Women’s World Cup, which is the most by a player in the competition’s history

Nat Sciver-Brunt of England scaled new heights in women’s cricket after she smashed a brilliant century against Sri Lanka in match 12 of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on October 11 (Saturday).

With her run-a-ball 117, Sciver-Brunt notched up her fifth century in the Women’s World Cup, which is the most by a player in the competition’s history.

Before the English captain, two other English women, Janette Brittin and current England coach and former World Cup-winning captain Charlotte Edwards, along with New Zealand great Suzie Bates, had hit four World Cup centuries each.

Most Centuries in Women's World Cup

5 - Nat Sciver-Brunt (ENG)

4 - Suzie Bates (NZ)

4 - Janette Brittin (ENG)

4 - Charlotte Edwards (ENG)

Thus, with her century number five, the English skipper is now the leading century maker in Women’s ODI World Cup history. It was thanks to her century that England, despite being 168/6 at one stage, managed to reach 253/9 by the end of their 50 overs.

It turned out to be more than enough eventually, as Sri Lanka could manage only 164 and the visitors won by 89 runs to go to the top of the points table.
