England revert to split coaching roles for Tests and limited-overs
Previously England had Andy Flower as the Test coach and Ashley Giles as the head coach for limited-overs from 2012-14
England and Wales Cricket Board has decided to revert to the idea of split head coach roles for Tests and limited-overs teams. The Board on Tuesday invited applications for both the roles, to be applied by May 6 with the first round of interviews to be conducted on May 9 and 10.
England endured a tough time when the coaching roles were split from 2012-14 when Andy Flower was Test team's head coach and Ashley Giles held the role for the limited-overs.
The head coach role has been vacant since the ouster of Chris Silverwood after England's Ashes debacle in Australia. Paul Collingwood was appointed in an interim role for the tour of West Indies, which England lost 1-0.
Last week, ECB announced the appointment of former batter Robert Key as the director of cricket operations.
England are also without a Test captain after Joe Root announced his decision to step down from his role.
