The fifth and last Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy is moving at a rapid pace, and we are into the third innings already at the end of Day 2 as the spicy pitch has tested batters from both sides. India are currently leading by 52 runs and have lost two wickets while setting up a total for England.
The weather has interfered with both days so far, with rain interruptions pausing play. However, we are in for some sun and better conditions for batters on Day 3 of the Oval Test, as sunny intervals and light winds are predicted for August 2 (Saturday).
While the temperature will remain in the early 20s, there is a 0% chance of precipitation tomorrow, according to the predictions on BBC Weather. The morning will be sunny, with some cloud cover coming in as the day progresses. Later, the sun is predicted to return fully in the evening during the third session.
It’s said that the best time to bat at the Oval is when the sun is out. At 75/2 in their second innings, India have a great chance to capitalise on the favourable weather conditions on a spicy pitch. They would still need to find a good balance between attack and defence on the tacky surface, which has a lot of seam movement.
If they manage to do that, the weather, based on the reports as of now, will be in their favour tomorrow, and they can set up a big total for England to chase in the fourth innings, which will definitely not be easy.
