Sajid Khan has been all over the news ever since Pakistan reintroduced him in the second Test in Multan against England. The off-spinner was the pick of the bowlers. More than the wickets that he took, it was the celebration of those wickets that caught the eye.
In pure Punjabi Kabaddi style, just like when a raider would win a point and slap his thigh, Sajid also celebrated his every wicket with a slap of a thigh and a twirl of his moustache, which made his eyes look bigger and scarier.
Asked why he would scare the English batters with his furious-looking face, the leg-spinner said that his look is such that people get scared even if he laughs normally.
"Maine to kisi ko nahi daraya. Aap log kehte ho ki daraya hai. Allah ne look aisi di hai ki main hansta bhi hun to log darr jaate hain [I didn't scare anyone, but you people keep saying this. God has given me such a look that even if I laugh, people get scared],” Sajid responded to a question during the post-match press conference after Pakistan won the third Test in Rawalpindi and took the series 2-1.
Sajid was jointly named Player of the Series alongside his partner in crime, Noman Ali. The two of them picked 39 (Sajid 19 and Noman 20) out of the 40 English wickets that fell in the second and third Tests.
