Fantasy Preview: Chennai Super Kings vs Mumbai Indians, Match 59, IPL 2022

Here are a few tips that might help you create your fantasy team for Match 59 of IPL 2022 between CSK and MI

We all know how it panned out the first time around, MS Dhoni at the crease, Jaydev Unadkat at the bowling crease, and CSK fans were left in ecstasy. Even though the two sides are languishing at the bottom of the IPL 2022 table, the clash between the two arch-rivals is an encounter for the ages. It setups for a marvelous finish.

While Mumbai have no purpose left in the tournament, there is still a slim chance for the Super Kings, who will be marching into this contest on the back of a huge-margin win against the Delhi Capitals.

Ground Details

The Wankhede Stadium wasn’t true to itself as a batting venue during the opening few fixtures of the tournament. However, since then, there has been a shift in the scoring rate, with quite a few high-scoring encounters at the venue.

Seven out of the 15 games at the venue have been won by sides batting first, which shows how scoreboard pressure is still relevant in the shortest format of the game. However, the average winning score at the venue – 188 – still shows how the franchises batting first have to put their hands up and score the big runs.

On the expected lines, the pacers have struck 107 times at the venue, averaging just 31.3, which shows how the pacers have enjoyed bowling at the venue. The spinners, on the other hand, have picked up 50 wickets but at an impressive economy rate of 7.7.

So, expect a high-scoring encounter, with some assistance for the pacers from both sides.

Team Selection

The team we've picked has a good mix of world-class batters and bowlers. But remember, while you could go for the above team, you also have the option of choosing your team from Cricket.com’s Fantasy Research Centre. You can use this tool to build your team with the help of algorithms.

Captain Selection

Devon Conway was dropped after just one game during the first half of the 2022 IPL. Conway fits into CSK’s principles like no other player in the competition. After his comeback into the setup, the southpaw has scores of 85*, 56, and 87 in the competition, two of which have come in winning way for the franchise. Against Mumbai, an attack that has a favorable seam attack, expect the Kiwi southpaw to be a pillar of the franchise on Thursday

Criclytics predicts Conway to score 45-67 runs in the clash against Mumbai

X-factors

While Moeen Ali still hasn’t clicked as well as he would like to with the bat, Moeen Ali the bowler has been exceptional in the tournament for the Super Kings. In his last two encounters with the ball, the off-spinner has scalped five wickets, including the prized scalps of Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant and Mitchell Marsh amongst it. If Ali indeed plays at No.3, the all-rounder might really be worth every punt.

Criclytics predicts Moeen to score 21-31 runs and pick 1-2 wickets against Mumbai

Finally, it is safe to say Jasprit Bumrah is back in form. After struggling for the major portion of the tournament, blanking seven times, Bumrah picked up a rare fifer against Kolkata Knight Riders, conceding just the ten runs. The 28-year-old was at his lethal best and Mumbai would be hoping that the pacer shows a similar form against the Super Kings, come Thursday.

Criclytics predicts Bumrah to pick 2-3 wickets against the Super Kings

Ruturaj Gaikwad has been an influential figure in the Super Kings’ putting up good totals at the top of the order. After reverting back to the Gaikwad-Conway partnership at the top, the four-time IPL champions have been heavily benefitted by the batting pair. In two out of the last three encounters, the pair have put up hundred-run partnerships, averaging 87 for the Super Kings. Not just that, the right-hander himself has put up valuable scores – 41, 28, and 99 – in the last three games.

Criclytics predicts Gaikwad to score 31-47 runs against Mumbai Indians

Here are the top-ten picks as per Criclytics projected points
