Feel like I can jump in at many different roles: Cameron Green

The all-rounder has played in many positions across the last two IPL seasons, which Australia might benefit from at the T20 World Cup

Cameron Green has batted in all positions from opening to seven in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Even in the recently-concluded season, he batted 3-6 to push Royal Challengers (RCB) into the playoffs. he was especially good in the last four innings of the season, scoring 46 (SR 170.27), 32* (133.33), 38* (223.53) and 27 (128.57), batting in three different positions.

The all-rounder reckons that moving up and down in the batting line-up will come in handy for Australia at the T20 World Cup 2024

"Think that's the beauty of what I've been exposed to in the last few years, there's never been a really consistent spot to really lock in but at the same time I'm pretty thankful for that," Green told reporters.

"Feel like I can jump in at many different roles, [I] think that's where I see myself this tournament, maybe plugging holes in the team. It's a pretty good team to get into. Wherever I got told I'm playing [I] think I've got a bit of confidence and an idea of where to bat anyway.

"It's pretty different when you bat up [in] the top [order], two fielders out at the start, you can play pretty proper cricket. Maybe took me a while to really work out how to go about it [in the middle order]. You can still give yourself 10 balls to kind of get yourself in, where sometimes when you are inexperienced it doesn't feel like you have 10 balls."

Green moved from the IPL to the Ashes tour in 2023, which was a challenging period for him. As a result, he lost his place in the Test side, before being recalled against West Indies following David Warner's retirement. He was also asked to play in the Sheffield Shield instead of the T20 International (T20I) series against New Zealand and that made dividends as the managed to hit 174 against New Zealand in Wellington, earlier this year.

Australia will begin their T20 World Cup 2024 campaign against Oman on June 5 (Wednesday) at Bridgetown Barbados.
